the message from my Heart.

This movie is dedicated to all those people, all the events, and all the tiny other things that make my life so good. Cheers, to influences in my past, to those who help me today, and for the upcoming feature we call the future...

This project was bittersweet to me. The work was pretty easy, but organizing thoughts isn't where the lightbulbs go off. [Haha.] I'll admit I did go from one theme to the next, but trust me, the movies worth it. When my teacher said, "Don't make it one of those 'About Me' shows, " I knew I had to think hard. I thought... who influenced me to say all those things "about me"? So that's what happened; I thought of high school, grammar school, the Swiss Exchange, the track team, memories of when I was a young girl (and in some cases, why I should stay young at heart and not listen to anyone who tries to stop me) ...I may have not gotten EVERY single detail down, but you can get the idea of what I'm made of.

The song, "Beauty in the Breakdown" by the Scene Aesthetic, is a love song, but if you look deeper into the meaning, I'm asking you all to look deeper than the exterior of a person.

A Funny Story...

Do you remember when we used to care about 'bring your child to work day"? Well, funny story... When I was younger, I went to my dad's office. I was hanging out with a bunch of younger kids my age. All of a sudden, we wanted ice cream. Then I said, "OH, LET'S GO!" One of my dad's co-workers looked at me and asked, "Do you have money?". My reply? "Oh, don't worry. I'll get my dad's wallet."

HAH. Short, but sweet. But those are the things in life that make like simply irrisistable.

CSI, A New Page

CSI: High School for International Studies for me was an open door to a larger world. Some may think, "Really? It's such a small school!" I came from a small, private, Catholic school. I was SO not ready to go out into the whole high school setting. CSIHSIS fit my standards well because the school is so small, very focused on international affairs, and it's not like other schools with 1000 or more people.

CSI has benefited me academically in many ways. I've accomplished the basic subjects: math, english, science, and global. What was new to me was something called "global technology". At first I wasn't so sure, but it ended up being really easy! Freshman year was a struggle, but I passed!

I always try to volunteer for anything. I'm just the kind of person to say "yes" whenever you need help. I always thought it was a bad thing, but not when volunteering! I got to help out at PTA meetings, open houses, bake sales, fundraisers, and even at the Special Olympics. It was such an amazing feeling to know that I did something to help out.

Traveling was one of the main reasons I picked CSI. They have so many trips across seas. This year (2009) I'm a part of a Switzerland exchange. My friend Sandrine is coming over here in about a week or so, and I'll be going over to Switzerland during Spring Break. This will be my first trip abroad. I'm so thankful for picking CSI, because it has everything I want: small population, new subjects, challenging ideas, and the ability to share all my work across the globe.

Rite Way to Haze?

I think not. Many students have participated in hazing, or have been hazed in their schools. To many it's a "Rite of Passage", used in sororities, fraternities, gangs, and sports teams. To others, it's harrassment. Making others do unbearable tasks, calling people unforgettable names, taking control of their body, it's horrible. In a high school in New Jersey, the so-called "Mean Girls" have possibly scarred the freshman girls for the next 4 years of their life. In one fraternity, some took it too far, and caused some to get burned.




In the famed movie, "A Walk To Remember", the beginning scene is actually a hazing scene, causing one of the teens to get serious head damage.

I believe that hazing is wrong. It's a good thing we never see it here in my school, but just the thought of that it's going around in other schools is pretty disturbing.

The Homeland of My Roots Destroyed.

Typhoon Utor strkes the Philippine Islands, causing great destruction. About 80,000 people have had to evacuate their homes for the water level was as high as their roofs. Utor hit many islands of the Philippines; the province of San Jose (which is 250km from the capital of Manila), Tacloban city, Capiz province, and the eastern Bicol region were one of the many places on the list. About 4 children were reported dead, and 3 of them injured (according to the article).



My Views
- I want to present the fact that my family has been affected by this disaster. My Lola Levi and Ate (ah-teh) Christine, my dad's mother and younger sister), lives in the city of Marikina, which was destroyed by the water damage. My family here in New York and in California have been trying to get in contact with someone who knows of their wherabouts for the past week. They're in my hearts, along with my other family members or family friends who have been hit by this. To everyone that's also been affected by the disaster, my prayers are with you.

Blogging In Education

Blogging is beneficial to education. It benefits education by promoting analogical, critical, and analyzing skills and thinking. It is helpful to schools because it gives students potential to find the information they need with their exposure to the Internet these days. Using Blogging in schools can help teachers and students as well. Blogging in schools help them by enhancing learning opportunities in the media field, as they would probably need, learn, and use in middle school, high school, college, and for their futures.
